“Disney World Defies Hurricane Idalia with Open Park and Rainy Fun”
– Despite Hurricane Idalia hitting Florida’s Big Bend, Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios remained open for business.
– Some attractions within the park, such as Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf, and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf, were temporarily closed but reopened on Thursday.
Amidst the storm, Disney World took measures to accommodate guests affected by the weather. The park waived change and cancellation fees for those with check-in dates from Aug. 28 to Sept. 5 and offered guests currently at the resort the option to extend their stay until Aug. 31. Additionally, Florida residents who evaluated the storm and first responders were offered a 50% discount on hotel stays.
Despite the inclement weather, many visitors appeared undeterred by the rain and enjoyed their time at the Magic Kingdom. Videos shared on social media showed park-goers donning rain ponchos and embracing the wet conditions while exploring the park.
Overall, Disney World demonstrated its commitment to guest safety while providing a memorable experience even during a hurricane.
