Churchill County Arts and Entertainment: Celebrating Local Talent and Veterans’ Stories
Lahontan Valley Fine Arts Invitational: The Churchill Arts Council’s 11th biennial Lahontan Valley Fine Arts Invitational is currently running until Feb. 23. The artists’ reception and the Oats Park Art Center’s annual Holiday Art Bar will be held on Dec. 2 from 5-9 p.m. with live music from Scott Payne and Cliff VanWoert of Money Back Guarantee. This year’s event is the largest invitational yet, featuring more than 50 pieces on display created by local artists. The exhibit showcases a wide range of media, including sculpture, photography, textiles, and paintings, all available for purchase.
‘Through Our Eyes: The Women Veteran’s Experience’: Showing through Nov. 27 at the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s Jacobson Interpretive Center, this exhibit shares the experiences of 14 female veterans, as told from their viewpoints and captured by a dedicated photographer. The exhibit debuted in 2018 at Reno Artown and offers a unique and powerful perspective on the women veterans’ experiences. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday through Monday, closed on Thanksgiving.
Lahontan Valley Concert Choir: The Sounds of Christmas Past will be conducted on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Fallon Theatre, and on Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Churchill County High School theater. This promises to be a festive and heartwarming musical experience for the whole community.
Don’t miss out on these wonderful opportunities to celebrate local art and honor the stories of our veterans this holiday season!
