Mitchell County Regional Health Center (MCRHC) has been honored with two prestigious 2023 Performance Leadership Awards for its outstanding performance in the categories of Quality and Patient Perspective. The awards, compiled by Chartis Center for Regional Health, recognize top quartile performance among rural hospitals, with MCRHC ranking in the 75th percentile or higher in multiple areas. Shelly Russell, CEO of MCRHC, expressed her team’s commitment to providing excellent healthcare and their gratitude for the recognition.
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, which is considered the most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance in the industry. This data is relied upon by rural medical facilities, health systems, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance in areas impacting hospital operations and finances. Michael Topchik, National Leader at The Chartis Center for Rural Health, praised the commitment, determination, and compassion with which rural hospitals serve their communities, emphasizing the mission-driven nature of rural healthcare.
MCRHC operates a critical access hospital and three clinics in Northern Iowa, with its headquarters and primary clinic located in Osage, Iowa, and additional clinics in St. Ansgar and Riceville, Iowa. As the largest employer in Mitchell County, MCRHC plays a vital role in providing healthcare services to the local community.
The recognition of MCRHC with these two awards highlights the dedication and excellence of the healthcare services provided by the organization, reinforcing its position as a leader in rural healthcare.
