Arkansas Tech University Announces Permanent College Deans
Arkansas Tech University has selected permanent leadership for its academic colleges, including Dr. Tim Carter, Tracy Cole, Dr. Sarah Gordon, and Dr. John Jackson. These individuals, who were serving in interim capacities, have been chosen to lead their respective colleges moving forward.
Dr. Tim Carter, who has been a member of the ATU faculty since 1998, fulfilled the duties of associate dean before taking office as interim dean in July 2023. He played a crucial role in helping ATU’s education programs earn accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation in 2020.
Tracy Cole, a faculty member since 2007, has been appointed as the permanent dean of the ATU College of Business and Economic Development. Dr. Sarah Gordon, who joined the ATU faculty in 2018, has been selected as the permanent dean of the ATU Graduate College. Finally, Dr. John Jackson, a member of the ATU faculty since 2003, has been appointed as the permanent dean of the ATU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe, ATU interim vice president for academic affairs, expressed her gratitude to these scholars and leaders for their continued service to Arkansas Tech University as college deans. She believes that the excellence of the faculty, department heads, and deans, paired with the rigor and relevance of the academic programs, will lead to continued success for Arkansas Tech in the fulfillment of its mission and the pursuit of its vision.
As Furst-Bowe prepares to complete her interim assignment at ATU, she looks forward to the continued growth and success of the university under the leadership of these newly appointed deans.
